I originally wrote Underwater Friends A-Z for my friends’ children—little ones who live too far away for me to share my love of the ocean with in person. I wanted them to still feel connected to their fish-loving aunt and friend, even from a distance.
As I wrote, I realized that so many kids could benefit from this book—not just those who know me, but any child with a curiosity for the underwater world. My younger self would have loved it! My hope is that Underwater Friends A-Z sparks wonder, encourages learning, and helps young readers fall in love with the ocean and freshwater environments, one fascinating creature at a time.
